New Full Time Students K-12

STEP 1: INTRA-DISTRICT TRANSFER REQUEST

If you live in the SRVUSD boundaries, follow the instructions for a Venture Alternative Education Transfer found at the bottom of this SRVUSD web page (available after April 20th).

*This is a no-risk application. There is no change to your enrollment at your current school when you complete the application. Your child will not be transferred to Venture until you have completed all of the steps outlined on this page.

Note: If your student is eligible for special education, you should consult with your student's case manager. Special education students may not participate in independent study unless it is specified as an instructional method in their IEP. Changes in placement or instructional methods require and IEP team meeting. Your case manager may invite the Venture Principal to the meeting so the IEP team can make an informed determination about independent study and your child.

STEP 2: NOTIFICATION

The SRVUSD Student Services department will notify you and Venture once your transfer application has been received. We will send you an invitation to an information meeting.

During the information meeting we will review the Venture Course Selection Form for 6th - 12th grade students, and the Venture Registration Packet. These documents must be submitted by all incoming students before we can proceed with enrollment.

STEP 3: THE REGISTRAR

If you have returned all of the required documents and Venture can accommodate your enrollment request, you will receive an acceptance email from Students Services. That email is also sent to the registrar at your resident school. Contact that registrar and complete the withdrawal process. You may be required to return books and pay outstanding fees before they will process your withdrawal. If school is in session you will get withdraw grades.

STEP 4: TEACHER MEETING

Once all registration materials have been received at Venture, and the student has been withdrawn from his/her resident school, Venture will assign a teacher. The teacher will call you to set up your first appointment. Both the parent and student should come to the first meeting.
